McKay-Dee NICU

Our seven weeks stay at the McKay-Dee NICU was quite an experience we will never forget. There are so many people to thank for all of their help. They are wonderful people. Cami Marsh is the head of Parent Support and she planned activities for us to do since we were in the NICU during Thanksgiving and Christmas. She put together gifts for us.

We have to thank the Anne-Dee-Taylor Guest house for allowing us to make our room our home for seven weeks and for blessing us with the best gift possible. Being able to afford our stay there. And of course we have to thank Lisa Cunliffe for everything she helped us with. She was amazing!

We have to thank the amazing staff they have. The doctors and nurses were so comforting and let us know exactly what the plan was everyday for Jazlynne. They did everything it took to get our baby girl healthy. 

We had a few very spiritual moments while staying at McKay Dee. The spirit is so strong inside of that room when we would walk in at times it was as if we had walked into the celestial room inside of the temple. Those babies are so close to heaven you feel at peace sitting there with your baby. 

One experience we had was this; Uncle Lyle has offered me a place to stay at his house in South Weber so that I would be near Ogden. Although that was such a kind gesture I didn't feel right for some reason. I knew I had to be closer to you. I had to be within walking distance for a few reasons. One being, I didn't have a vehicle down there. I was sick to my stomach for some reason thinking about staying at Lyle's. It just didn't seem like that was were I was supposed to be. I wanted to stay in the Guesthouse at McKay-Dee but we knew we couldn't dish out the extra money a week. I cried so hard at the thought of going home to Logan and leaving Jazlynne in the hospital without her Mom. The guesthouse was comfortable, we were in our own space and not someones house, we were right across the parking lot from Jazlynne and it was just were we knew we needed to be. We went out and were planning to see Harry Potter 7 and take some time for us and clear our minds. We drove around Ogden talking and trying to think of how we could come up with an extra 300.00 to afford the Guesthouse. First there was no parking, then there were no seats left in the other theater.. We were so stressed and upset over it we ended up getting to the movie late and decided to just go back to the NICU and be with you. We prayed and prayed and could not stop crying. Well, We walked into the room where Jazlynne's isolate was and as soon as we got to your bedside Lisa (Our social worker) walked over to us. 

She said, "Okay you guys, I talked with the guesthouse manager and we worked out a deal. We understand you are a young married couple going to and struggling to get by. We want to help you out so we are going to let you stay in the guesthouse for 25.00 a week. Can you afford that?"

We just burst into tears in front of everyone in the NICU. Our prayers were instantly answered! Our father in heaven was watching over us and sending us blessings. What a relief that was! (We ended up going to Harry Potter that night. ;) Haha)

One person I am ever so grateful for is Uncle Lyle. He is such a wonderful man. He came up to visit me a couple times at the NICU but I was still back at the guesthouse and missed him every time. But he left little gifts to remind me that he was there if I needed anything. He invited us to his wards Christmas Party since we didn't have plans to do anything for Christmas. 

We had a very special Christmas is the NICU though. Craig's mom bought us a mini LED Christmas Tree to put in our room. They brought us a bunch of gifts and stayed with us in the Guesthouse one of the nights before Christmas. Brianna, Shawn, my Mom and Gary also came to visit us for the Holidays and brought us food, and gifts both visits. 

That Christmas was a very special Christmas that will always be in our hearts. We spent it at Jazlynne's bedside and it could not have been more spiritual.

Craig and I were a part the whole week while he was at home working for us. He would drive down every weekend the moment he got off work, as tired as could be just to see us. 

A friend of mine from High School, Breanne Callister, brought a gift into the Guesthouse one day, some books and a nice note letting me know she was thinking of us. 

It was amazing to me how many people were praying for us and for Jazlynne. How many comments we got and the biggest thing, how many people offered us a room in their homes to stay while we were down there. There were about ten people inviting us. We are so grateful for every ones love and support. We will never be able to thank everyone for helping us through that time in our lives. 

Another thing that brought tears to my eyes was once we finally were able to bring Jazlynne home on New Years Eve we pulled in to our home and got our mail. Inside of our mailbox was an envelope and the only thing written on it was Craig and Amanda Turley. Inside was a small note and 200.00! That was truly a gift. We still to this day have no idea who gave it to us but we are eternally grateful for that. It wasn't mailed so they must have known where we lived and which box was ours.
